The Soul of Sangiovese, Italy!

Tuscany, Italy

Tuscany is where winemaking and romance meet. This iconic central Italian region is home to some of the most esteemed wines in the world—each one reflecting centuries of craftsmanship, regional pride, and connection to the land.

At the heart of Tuscan wine is the Sangiovese grape, known for its vibrant acidity, firm tannins, and flavor profile of cherry, dried herbs, leather, and earth. Sangiovese takes on many forms depending on where it’s grown:

  • Chianti Classico – Bright, savory, and food-friendly with notes of red cherry and spice.

  • Brunello di Montalcino – A fuller, age-worthy expression with power and elegance.

  • Vino Nobile di Montepulciano – Smooth, balanced, and often overlooked for its value and depth.

In the 1970s, a wave of innovation led to the birth of the Super Tuscan movement, blending international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with native varieties. The result? Bold, structured wines that helped put Tuscany on the global stage in a new way.

What stood out to me most during my time in Tuscany was the deep connection between land and legacy. Whether visiting a family-owned vineyard nestled in rolling hills or tasting wines in a centuries-old cellar, every experience felt grounded in authenticity. Tuscany isn’t just a wine region—it’s a feeling. A place where every glass tells a story.
